How to Check KRA penalties

  • Go to KRA website using the link itax.kra.go.ke
  • Log into your account by entering your KRA PIN into the dialogue box and continue.
  • Key in your KRA PIN password.
  • Enter the summation of the security stamp.
  • Click on Login (The entries are normally case sensitive)
  • On the dashboard menu, click on Debts and Enforcement.
  • . It will reveal various options including interest and penalties
  • Check on the penalties and interest accrued.
  • You can then choose to apply for Waiver for Penalties and Interests.
  • Select Apply for Waiver for Penalties and Interests.
  • Pick the Applicant Type you are e.g. Taxpayer,
  • Choose your Tax Obligation e.g. Income Tax Individual or VAT,
  • Pick the Type of penalty or interest.
  • You then go ahead and complete payment of the penalties and interests.

Alternatively, you can send a copy of your original ID card to callcenter@kra.go.ke enquiring  “check my KRA penalties” on the penalties that accrue.
