How to pay KPLC bill via M-Pesa (prepaid and postpaid)

M-Pesa is one of the ways in which one can pay for continued power supply from KPLC. Postpaid and prepaid customers use different Paybill numbers when making payment, that is, 888888 and 888880 respectively.

The steps to follow while making payment for both prepaid and post-paid customers are outlined below.

Paying postpaid KPLC bill via M-Pesa

  • Go to M-Pesa menu on your mobile phone
  • Click on Lipa na M-Pesa
  • Select Pay Bill
  • Click on enter business no. and type the business number 888888
  • Click on the account number to enter your new account number
  • Enter the amount you want to pay and click OK
  • Enter your M-Pesa PIN
  • In the pop-up message, confirm that all the details are correct then click OK, if they are.

You will receive a confirmation message if the transaction is successful.

Paying your prepaid KPLC Bill

  1. On your phone, go to M-Pesa
  2. Click on Lipa na M-Pesa
  3. Select Pay Bill
  4. Select Enter Business no. to enter the KPLC’s M-Pesa Paybill number 888880 then click OK
  5. Select Enter Account no. to enter your account number which is your KPLC prepaid meter number then press OK
  6. Enter the amount you wish to pay then click OK
  7. Enter your M-Pesa PIN then click OK
  8. In the pop-up message, confirm that all the details are correct and if so, click Ok.
  9. HAKIKISHA, you will be sent a notification by M-Pesa. The notification contains the name of the intended recipient (Kenya Power) and the account number. If it is a wrong transaction enter any number and send within 25 seconds.
  10. After the transaction is complete, M-Pesa will send you a confirmation message
  11. KPLC will then send you a message with the generated prepaid token number, valid only to your meter.
  12. Enter the number to top up your tokens.
